1. 1937 Bailey Avenue, Haynesville - Loice Kendrick Lacy
The garden and yard of Master Gardener Loice Kendrick Lacy is designed to attract birds, butterflies, bees and other wildlife. It is a Certified Wildlife Habitat as well as a Monarch Butterfly Waystation. The numerous trees and shrubs offer blooms for pollinators as well as cover, nesting sites and fruit for birds. The garden has nectar plants for not just the butterflies but for hummingbirds and bees as well as being host plants for the butterfly caterpillars. The entire garden is chemical and pesticide free!
2. 1203 Airport Loop, Homer - Frankie and Phil Brand
Azalea bushes lead you to this home surrounded by the blooms of roses, lilies and camellias. Stroll the two acres leading to the Lake Claiborne shore. Listen to the trickle of the patio fountain while you watch the birds and butterflies dart among the plants.
3. 1621 Airport Loop, Homer - Gale and Jim Anderson
This laid-back, welcoming home is nestled into a cove on Lake Claiborne. A path guides you by well-manicured lawns and flower beds that lead to the lake and boathouse. A large deck is the perfect place to enjoy the lakes beauty! A gazebo with the fire pit lets you enjoy a waterfall and Koi pond. Many of the plantings traveled from Baton Rouge to their new home. Lite refreshments here.
4. 1202 Homer Road - The Teaching Garden
An educational project of the Piney Hills Louisiana Master Gardeners, the Teaching Garden hosts three raised bed areas and a variety of flora. The sunny hilltop garden features many native butterfly and moth species host plants. The fountain garden is a water feature converted into double level beds filled with evergreen, seasonal blooms and bulbs. The rain garden at the base of the hill, created to assist in erosion prevention and drainage improvement, is home to numerous moisture-loving plants, flowers and grasses.
