Master Gardener Classes

Thank you for your interest in the Louisiana Master Gardener Program.

The Webster Parish Extension Office of the LSU AgCenter is pleased to tell you  that we offer a new class for Master Gardeners each summer. Applicants from Bienville, Bossier, Claiborne and  Webster Parishes are welcome to apply.  Classes are tentatively scheduled to be held on consecutive Thursdays, beginning in May and ending with graduation in August.  Dates for the 2020 class will be published at a later date.   Classes are held at the Webster Parish Extension Office at 1202 Homer Road in Minden. An application is attached.

Upon course completion, you will be expected to donate 40 hours the first year and 20 hours yearly thereafter of volunteer time working on local Master Gardener projects, answering homeowner’s gardening questions on the telephone, developing and maintaining Extension demonstration gardens, and doing occasional short demonstrations.  Training volunteers is the primary Extension objective for the Master Gardener program.

Class size is limited. Class members will be chosen in May. You will be notified of your acceptance by mail and given registration information and instructions for submitting payment. There is a fee to cover the cost of the instruction manual and teaching supplies.

If you have any further questions about the Master Gardener classes or have a disability which requires special assistance for your participation, please contact the LSU AgCenter (318) 371-1371 or Marjorie Thomas (318) 927-5283 for assistance.
