Class of 2018 Graduation

Picture

The Piney Hills Louisiana Master Gardeners celebrated their newest members on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at the First Methodist Church in Minden, Louisiana. This year’s annual Master Gardener Class had 17 students who underwent 40 hours of horticulture education over the course of 10 weeks this summer to qualify to graduate and become a Master Gardener.  This class was the very first to be held during the evening in Webster Parish.

The 2018 Piney Hills Master Gardener Class graduates shown in the photo on the right are:

From back left: Emmett Jones, Linda Jones, Terry Clason, Sharon Priest, Sarah Moore, Val Corley, Linda Monzingo, Elizabeth Wren, and Margene Waters.

From front left: Barbara Sisler, Geanie Cross, Cyndi Bond, Glenda Aycock, Kimberly Adkins, Barbara Burge, and Susan Scoggins.  Not pictured is Tara Haskins.

These graduates had an opportunity to learn about soils, botany, plant pathology, fruit and nut trees, vegetables, ornamental horticulture, entomology, and many other topics.  These new graduates will join the ranks of other Piney Hills Master Gardeners who work tirelessly to promote horticulture and home gardening in Bienville, Bossier, Claiborne and Webster Parishes.

A catered meal was served and table decorations were provided by several Master Gardeners.

A warm welcome is extended to these new enthusiastic PHLMG members !!!

If you think you might like to join the Master Gardeners, a new class will be held next summer. You may contact LSU AgCenter in Webster Parish, at 371-1371 for more information.
